i'm nobody's satellite
lonely trajectories through the night
tracing my way from nowhere to nowhere

somehow i testify
that direction in life only leads in a straight line
i'm leaving behind all evidence
that i'm not the only one

it's said that objects in motion
tend to stay in motion
i'd give anything to be brought to rest
at least be turned around to rediscover all the suns i've found
and feel familiar light shining out

but i can't stand too close to this fusion
i might get burned
so i slip back into the vacuum

i do not know why you're solid in the center
so warm and bright, but frozen inside
no i don't know why you're so cold in the center
like you lived your life with no light

and don't you know the way home?

blessed blue sphere i see already that i'll sleep here
your oceans fill my grave, i dust your atmosphere
i will repay you for the mess and cause you gave me rest
warm wind white sand beaches will soothe your children years ahead

oh but still better to find orbit around a friend
the way that i went out, no one knew me in the end

i do not know why you're solid in the center
you're so warm and bright but frozen inside
no i don't know why you're so cold in the center
like you lived your life with no light

and don't you know the way home?
