sprawled in the shower for the last seven hours
you've been watching the light go down the drain
spiral down down spiral down
knowing it's going to resurface somewhere else again

and you drive on down to the lake for the last time
you walk out onto the lake for the sunrise
it all comes up in one place
it all balls up on the horizon

stay up off of the ice dunes
stay up off of the ice dunes
in the likely event of a breakthrough
no arms are reaching out to save you

breathe a wish onto the glaze
let it all freeze over solid this year
you'll speed across make all their fading
gazes flash out to follow you

if your eyes close now
we can never pry them open we can never pry them open
we can never pry them open
if your lids slide down
on this icy view
your breath will hang in clouds above you
as it all collapses in under
its own weight

waking up cold with sweat
somehow seems appropriate
with glaciers flowing in to grind you
down over ten thousand years and

sleep is slowly drifting back
lake effect ouside the window
snows down dimly lit by the
gray hazy lonely light and stacks up tall

wait a while wait a while
silence of a blizzard
strips you down till you're just
gratefulness for furnaces

your hypothermic chemistries
alleviate the sting of winter
but you'll still solidify if you
don't come in and warm up sometime and

if your eyes close now
we can never pry them open we can never pry them open
we can never pry them open
if your lids slide down
on this icy view
your breath will hang in clouds above you
as it all collapses in under...

hypothermic
